the whole MIA Super Bowl fiasco seems to me entirely over blown and i am not sure what the big deal is at all. does the middle finger really hold that much value as a insult on anybody any more ( though i still find people offended when i flip them off for trying to cut me off when i am walking across the street. WHEN IT’S MY RIGHT OF WAY) does her little coy gesture during a song where it fits really that much of an affront? then to have Madonna of all people get offended as well and say it was juvenile is the cherry on top. the woman that made her carrier on breaking the rules and bending norms, doing what was unexpected. what it really goes to show is what set’s MIA and Madonna apart is MIA doesn’t define herself along marketable norms Mia is her own creature and doesn’t seem to care what people think which is nice given how quickly new indie artists morph into predictable marketable pop brands. look at that music video she put out where all the gingers got killed in it and how offended people got about that to. all Lady Gaga can do is repackage pop songs from the late 70’s and mid-80’s and just one up old Madonna videos. which i guess is good for her because all Madonna is capable of doing now is taking a sub-culture music genre and then dazzling the audience with her flexibility ( we get it you are keeping healthy and defying established conventions of age). so in closing MIA flip off anybody and everybody at whatever event or stage you want and seriously why does Madonna have a opinion what matters these days.
